Event Details

We regret to advise the Michael Thomas Run scheduled for September 30th is cancelled. Jack Sark, a former long serving Chief of the Lennox Island First Nation, Michael Thomas’ home community, passed away yesterday. The cancellation is out of respect for former Chief Sark, his family, and the entire Lennox Island community.

“Michael Thomas Race Day” is a multi-distance road race event organized to celebrate the legacy of great PEI Mi’kmaq distance runner, Michael Thomas. All monies raised go to the PEI Aboriginal Sports Circle to increase grassroots participation in sport for Aboriginals on Prince Edward Island, and to help improve the health of these communities through sport promotion and programming at the community and provincial level.

Looped courses, all routes use Highway underpass (no Highway crossings), ample signage and crossing guards wherever needed, water/gel stations, 10 miler and 5k incorporate Michael Thomas Statue. 10 miler and 5k begin and end at Stratford Town Hall.  We also have a 1 mile run for children under 10 as well as a 300m run for younger runners. Running Shirt for each participant.
